Clean Philadelphia Now: A CALL FOR A PHILADELPHIA FREE OF LITTER AND DUMPING BY 2028
CLEAN PHILADELPHIA NOW CAMPAIGN PLATFORM
According to studies conducted by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Philadelphia spends $48 million a year on clean-up-related activities. Laws, rules, and regulations are enacted to support clean-up and then ignored. Eighty-eight percent of the budget is spent on abatement, with virtually no attention to prevention or enforcement.
We can do better than this. The Clean Philadelphia NOW Campaign Platform outlines a comprehensive approach with specific strategies to eliminate litter and dumping by 2028.
The Clean Philadelphia NOW Campaign, with its growing list of endorsing organizations and individuals, calls on all candidates for Mayor and City Council on the ballot for the November 2023 election to adopt and publish as their own the agenda below as a public pledge and commitment to work for a Philadelphia free of litter and dumping.

HoW WE GOT HERE
Clean Philadelphia NOW is envisioned as an alliance to champion the campaign for adequate waste collection, litter abatement, and prevention and elimination of open dumping in Philadelphia forever. The agenda and platform of the campaign has been and will continue to be determined by those groups and individuals who choose to join. It is our objective to form an alliance linking the activities of those involved in clean-up campaigns, fighting open dumping, demanding better waste collection practices, and working to build a circular economy. Ours is a campaign with a common resolve: to demand the resources and support to keep our neighborhoods and our city clean. Contact us at cleanphillynow@trashacademy.org.
